 Shoestring Theatre
Waiuku and Pukekohe
2024 season

Our casts of local young people take two intense weeks to learn their lines, devise their scenes, create the stage set and costumes, set up the lights and produce the magic that is a Shoestring Theatre performance.

In 2024 Shoestring has expanded to two separate production projects!

Our 2024 productions began rehearsal in Pukekohe on Monday February 5th and in Waiuku on Monday March 11th.
Pukekohe gave three successful performances of Joe Of Arabia on February 16th and 17th after two weeks of intensive rehearsal.
Waiuku also had three sold-out performances of Arabian Queen - on March 22nd and 23rd.

The scripts are always a closely-guarded secret until the first morning when cast members open their booklets and read the play for the first time. It’s an expression of trust in their long-time director Douglas Roberts, who casts each individual in a role appropriate to them, and often written expressly for them.

Shoestring has offered theatre experiences to children and young people in Waiuku since 2014, and this year expanded to Pukekohe! Take a look through our galleries of photos from past productions using the links above.
